Deductions

Social security for employees is about 18 % of gross pay: health, pension and unemployment insurance plus small contributions to the Chamber of Labour and housing fund. Wage tax is progressive, from 0 % on the first €13,539 a year up to 55 %.

Family bonus

The Familienbonus Plus reduces your wage tax by up to €2,000 per child under 18 and year (€166.68 per month). Parents can split it 50/50.
